We have enjoyed 2 weeks of intense floorball, playing, supporting, watching...
I really hope we have enjoyed the lesson-free days spent doing what most of us are passionate about... eat, drink, live, talk, think, dream floorball
The competition has officially ended. There is no doubt now that our boys finished 3rd and our girls 5th.

I really hope besides enjoying ourselves, we have really learnt many lessons during the competition, while playing, supporting or watching. Some of us seeing for the 1st time how the game can be played by different teams using different styles.
The excitement and fun are all over now. You guys had a dinner to sort of celebrate the end of the season.

Now is really the time to sit down, think and reflect...
be honest with yourself...
think about our progress, what we have achieved
think about what was good and what went wrong
evaluate our own performance, as individuals, as a line, as a team
reflect on what to rectify, what to improve
reflect on how to rectify, how to improve
reflect on what can be done to rectify and what can be done to improve

its all back to ourselves again.

As you all may know by now,
I am someone who doesnt like to blame others but myself.
I am someone who will focus on scolding myself for mistakes rather praising myself for good job done
I am someone who do a lot of reflections
I am someone who constantly want to progress and improve
I am someone who sets high expectations and standards,
and the only satisfactory result is when I did my best, there is nothing i can do better.

Think about what I have said and we will talk about it and share the next time we meet.
Enjoy the week off

i'm glad most of the misunderstandings have been cleared up and all. i hope that everyone can put all the not so good moments of the competition aside and remember the good times we had together as a team during the competition.

i have decided to post up the photos of the VJC v MJC girls match upon the request of a few people.

sorry if the photos aren't that fantastic. i tried my best already. haha! i really felt like i was from the school photographic society that day. most of the shots didnt turn out well. so here are the best so far.. :)

line 1's pre-match preparation

keeper warm-up drill

takes a shot at the goal!

tactics discussion before the game

a mjc player blocking the ball from kelly's freehit

presenting our very own vj girls wall comprising of wenlin, jiaxin and jovena

intensive gameplay by both sides

suhana chases the ball

Jiaxin with MJC's no.12 taking a face-off

2 mjc defenders closing down on kelly who has possesion of the ball

Weiwei and Wuyue takes on the MJC center player

line 2 preparing for an attack forward.

our keeper jessica protecting our goal

both teams in ready position for the face-off

kelly competes with a MJC forward for the ball at the corner

Firstly to the passerby, if you are too afraid to properly reveal yourself i am afraid we cannot take you or your comments seriously. However in response to some of your comments, i have to say first of all that our coach (yan) exclaimed in anger and frustration at the referees failure to stop the game when our player was seriously injured. Is that not justified? Secondly, i myself am participating in the ongoing div 2 and i can say although the play is by no means mild, i have never faced some of the acts carried out my the mjc players. taking nothing away from the mjc players, they played a good game, they were strong and although rough bordering on dirty i can accept it. I just have to disagree with your perception that we are too close minded to accept certain styles of play.

Next, to glen and lionel, i appreciate the comments. ive already talked to afiq and we worked things out. i believe whatever happens on the court should stay on the court.

To all the rest of the vj guys, you guys gave it your all, you fought like hell and we walked out of there with our heads held high. we have already made an impression on many people in just our first year. and the tournament is not even over. keep it up guys, fight the good fight. see uall on monday. :)

(my first and hopefully not my last post) Dennis

hey guys (and girls),

got this from a friend:

"hey guys, though e game's lil unfair, it's still good to see you all play so nicely :)
don't give up and continue fighting!
all the best for the match against rj!"

well that's most of it. (the rest might upset certain people)

i felt that today showed alot about us,

how we stuck together as a team,
supported one another,
and even how we encouraged each other though we were down.

further more i thought it was really good how we did not lower ourselves to the level of playing dirty (not saying that anyone did...or didn't)

point here being that i agree with wat yan said, (and wat cherhan shouted)

we played like champions.

and even though we lost, i feel that we still have something to be proud off.

enough said.
come monday we play our last matches.
why not make it the best match we play all season?

We played well against NJC girls.
I think it was our best performance so far, not only in terms of the scoreline
but also in our play.
There was a marked improvement in the marking, passing, communication, shooting and most importantly attitude, commitment and team spirit.
We earned that victory as a team.
The desire and drive to do well was clearly evident.

This is what we are capable of.
I'm proud of you all.

Like what I said before, we will continue to fight regardless we win or lose.
There is still a last match to play.
Give it your all, there isnt a need to conserve anymore.
We started the season with a surprise result,
and we shall end it with another.

the first time yan took us for a match he told us he's not going to care about the score. what matters is that we played well on the court...

some of us are quite affected by the outcome of the matches. physically drained by hard falls, trainings and injuries.. mentally and emotionally drained by stress and pressure to cope. everyone has their own problems to handle.. but as a team we should not these problems get between us or make us lose focus.

i think the girls team have been improving since the first match and played our best in the match against IJ. although the score line does not prove it.. it was very clear that individually everyone was playing much better and each line was stronger as a whole. i tink we played well, fought hard and should not look at the score alone.

the final score is not absolute. even during the tornament.. yan consistently tells us not to look at the score.. but just give all that we have in the court.. only our best. let 's not let the outcome of the games affect our attitude towards the remaining matches.

the score does not say how hard we have training over the months. it does not say about the fun we had as a team. dont look at the score alone. look at how we have grown as a team from the start and how we got through the hard times during the competition together.

do not be affected by the score. continue working hard. give only our best.

we cant change it if other wish to see us by our score. but we should see ourselves as more than that.

win or lose.
show others we have something deeper than the score line. as a team we own something more significant.

God Bless. All the Best.

Hi Girls,

Feedback from some of the teachers:
"We lost but the team showed a lot grit and fight. Kudos to the girls. Indeed the physical toll did tell but also good to see them push on. 4 areas, technique, tactics, team spirit and fitness. You have a good team to build on for next year, no worries."

Don't lose hope, we started from zero and progressed,
lets continue to build on from where we are now

Good job! guys for the win over NJC!
Our performance was good!! not flawless though
and there is still room for improvement.
Talk to everyone, remind everybody what needs to be corrected
scold if you need, you are only helping the team

We are only 2 matches through, there are 4 more to go
and everyone of them is crucial.
Stay focus always!!!

Good luck for the match against MI this afternoon.

Same for the girls,
keep our heads up, believe in ourselves always
and keep playing
We have scored our 1st goals, we have scored our 1st point
let us get our 1st win today!!!
Go Girls!!!!

Hey hey...

Good job girls! for that 3-3 against RJC, its an improved result from the 6-3 friendly defeat.
But there is really still room for improvement.
Boys, nice comeback for the 2-2 against YJC. BUT the 1st 2 periods were really not pretty.

Lets not let the competition get to us.
I understand that many of us are anxious to win and do well.
But that will never happen if you put too much pressure on yourselves, appropriate amount of pressure is fine but not excessive.
Some of you looked really nervous even before the start and some of you only managed to shake that off midway thru the game and started to only play after that.
Nothing is impossible and we fear no one when we are confident.
We are prepared and we just need to play our game.

Well, I dont deny that we fought hard, both girls and boys.
But like the coach said, we wont have to fight so hard to chase the games if we dont throw away goals and play according to our plan. Let us not discredit our opponents for their goals. We got only ourselves to blame for slack defending.

We have seen for ourselves how well we can play
We have shown everybody our fighting spirit
We have also experienced for ourselves how difficult it is to turn around a deficit
Let us not put ourselves in that position again
Show everybody your fighting spirit right from the start
Show everybody we can play floorball from the beginning

The matches will be tight, there will be little to separate most teams
Any mistake is going to be really costly
JT said we cannot be complacent.
I totally agree. We shouldnt be because we havent won anything yet
And more importantly we shouldnt be because we are VJ Floorball

Play well, play hard and enjoy the matches
GO VJ!!!!

we never gave up,
and that's what brought us back.

we all know we want it bad.
it's time for us to prove it.

5 more to go, it's still anyone's game.

let's make it ours.

hello people, we have one more day to our nationals.

so i guess we all should be asking ourselves this question..

"What do you want to want to bring back from the competition?"

personally, i really want to bring back the champion trophies for both teams. but what i would really want more to bring back more from the competition would be lasting memories of how the VJ 2007 floorball team stood together as one, supporting one another through the ups and downs of the competition, and sharing the joy when we win our matches.

the joy of seeing how much your effort over the past few months have paid off at the end of the competition is really irreplaceable.

as a team, we must really want to win the competition and be confident. if we arent confident of our abilities, how can we expect ourselves to perform? ;)

i'm really glad to see how hard the team has been working for the past few training sessions. the many long runs we did together, the suicides we endured as a team. all our effort will not go to waste. all the late nights and sacrifices we have made, they will not go to waste.

we will fight hard as a team
we will win as a team
we will do vj proud as a team
we will prove to others in vj that we're not some 'fun' sport cca
we will not let mr loke and our coach yan's effort go down the drain

thus we must give our 101% best to the team!

most importantly, take care of your bodies for the next few weeks and yes, dont forget to enjoy yourselves during the competition. :)

we have come so far, worked so hard, done what we need, so let's all finish it up well! :D

believe in yourselves! by doing so, you are believing in the team, because you are the team and the team needs you. everyone has their role to play in the team. everyone in the team is important, just like how a body cannot function properly without an organ.

ALL THE BEST TEAM VJC!

We are drawing very near to our competition...
the competition which most of you have trained so hard for
eg. all the time, effort, energy, pain, injuries, sacrifices...

Let us all not put them to waste...
Honestly speaking, whatever training we need, we have already done them and done them well.
This crucial period is for all of us to get our body fine-tuned to peaking for the competition, the physical training stuff are not so important now.

What's more important is to...
rest, feed and hydrate your body really well so that your body will be 100% come competition...
prepare your mind that you are ready, confident to take on ANYTHING!!
talk within your lines... help one another correct what needs to be rectified
talk across lines... help one another realize each lines' strengths and weaknesses
amongst others

Many of us are 1st-timers in floorball, most of us are 1st-timers in sports and games...
But we should not let the competition get to us...
We do not feel pressured to win...
All the team (I refer to everybody in VJ floorball) need is that everybody puts in their 100% in whatever they are tasked to do.
Once everybody is commited to the team,
Once everybody puts in their 100%,
We will see where 100% team effort can lead us to.

We will fight hard for VJC
We will fight hard for VJ Floorball
Draw inspiration from whatever Coach has shared with you
Draw inspiration from other VJC teams' victories, their fighting spirit... their never say die attitude
Use the defeats of other VJC teams to motivate us too...

Win or lose, we have to keep our heads up
Win or lose, we have to keep fighting, keep fighting harder

You all have come so far,
play hard, fight hard,
enjoy the competition and have fun!!

hey people. i hoped you all had much fun during the team-bonding session at sentosa yesterday, i certainly did have fun!

anyway, this week will be the last week of training before our national schools competition begins. i guess many of us are having mixed feelings towards the competition. some are feeling confident, some are not so. but whatever it is, i believe and am confident in ability of everyone in both the girls and guys team to perform well in the competition!

after many months of training, and many many many physicals, we are now left with one week to push ourselves to the limits during training and do what we can with whatever little resources we have. these 3 weeks will determine the strength and perseverance of the team, and i know that we will go far as one team, because i believe in you people. :)

so let us all train hard, play hard and not to forget, encourage one another. :)
