Hello everyone. These are a few pictures of the $30-bag that I need some of you to buy, as Floorball ordered these bags but not all were purchased. The second picture shows my school bag for relativity. Forgive the horrible lighting in the second picture. Please contact Amos Nadan asap if you want the bag as there are only 10 pieces available (not that there seems to be a demand for them yet).
In addition, to all IP guys and girls who played in B division this year, the school is organising Sportsmen's Night on 2 October 2008 (Thursday) at 1800 in VJC, in recognition of all college representatives in this year's Singapore Schools championships. Dinner is provided. Please contact Amos Nadan (for the guys) or Therese (for the girls if you have not) by 1800 on Thursday, 270808. Apologies for this being very rushed, as there was a communication
breakdown.

Hello everyone, a few of us (both guys and girls) will be going for a run on wednesday afternoon. Guys and girls will be going on separate routes. Eeryone is most welcomed to join us. Cough cough, "go for a run 2 times a week, minimum 30 minutes" - Mr Loke. Ahem.

Bring PE attire and running shoes (obviously I'm stating the obvious).

We'll be meeting in the canteen at 1630. See you there!

I haven't got any pictures of it yet, but it's a black and red bag, and it's big. Both girls and guys can order it.

I bid thee a festive season of mugging.

indeed it took a lot of strength and courage for chia wen to play floorball so soon after her injury,
she really took a gamble with her life (well, she might not be able to play sports or even walk properly again if her knee gave way again). Sometimes, we could still see her limping or running awkwardly, that probably was due to the pain or discomfort she felt in her knee but she never gave up, she tried as hard as anybody else in the team and completed the same workout as everybody else. she never asked for concession or 'discounts', not even when I asked her to take it easy on herself.

chia wen truly displayed the 'team before self' spirit.

thanks, chia wen... (like what stella said, you are really a role model and a source of motivation)

Hi, chiawen here.

For those who don’t know me, am also known as “the one who broke her leg” (by Mr Loke) or the “come back kid” (by Yan)

The seniors have shared quite abit of their experience and given precious advice during the sharing earlier today and I thought I would share alittle about my ‘unique’ experience due to the broken leg (was too sudden just now so didn’t manage to think through but here’s a little addition to what all of them have said)

Like what Mr Loke said during the sharing, my comeback after the injury and operation was unexpected from both the team and even myself.

It was not easy, no doubt about that.

But now that I’ve returned and made it through, just want to share with all of you my two cents worth.

There were a few reasons that helped me to make it through and one key reason was the team itself and especially the girls team.

As an individual, many showed much concern for me, perhaps they were even more concerned than me. This was evident by the squeals and screams made by them whenever I fell or was being tackled by another player.

As a team, they encouraged me with words of motivation said out rightly.

Beyond the surface, the team spurred me on, through their dedication, passion and most significantly, team spirit.

Yes, the pain in my knee did set in at times but some things took the pain away, at least for that moment.

The pain was there when we ran countless suicides but seeing everyone persevering and not wanting to give up till the end, kept me going.

The pain was there when playing games and matches but seeing how my team mates ran their hearts out for every loose ball/ to defend a goal/ score a goal, made me feel that I had to do the same.

Looking back, the pain was not only gone for that moment, but till the moment season ended for us.

My comeback has really got to be credited to the VJ floorball team. It was them that made it possible.

With that, I hope that all of you, the future of VJ floorball will learn and appreciate the importance of team work and its resultant, team spirit.

Floorball is a team sport and I really mean a TEAM sport where individual characters, preferences, styles etc fade into the background, it’s about the team.

Like VJ’s motto- nil sine labore. Truly, it’s nothing without labour, as an individual and as a team.

Whether you’re in guys or girls, IP or JC team, injuries can be sustained, falls can happen and even games can be lost but the team spirit can NEVER be broken.

Impossible has been made nothing for me and I’m sure the same can happen to each one of you.

Hi, this is the girls' contact list.

@ 10:43 PM

hey people, just some stuff that i neglected to mention earlier.

as an individual, do not think that training will be enough to make you the best, or to even make you an outstanding player. attending every training does not equate to working hard, since that’s but the bare minimum. hard work comprises of the discipline to work on your abilities outside of training, and learning to incorporate these abilities in training and games appropriately. gaining exposure and conducting self-training are but little steps in which you can take to reach your potential.

of course, always remember that you’re just a building block, and without your team-mates, you don’t make a building.

now that us j2s are gone, it’s a new chapter that all of you are starting on. at every training, take a look at the people around you. these will be the people who you’re going to have to work with through the year, up till july; these will be the ones who will fight alongside you on the court; these will be the people who you will have to rely on in time to come. if you truly want to stand a fighting chance in the nationals, learn to accommodate and help each other, and when the you’re put to the test, you know you won’t be alone or let down by anyone around you.

remember: “Talents win games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”

through it all, it will not be the memories of victory or defeat that you carry along, but the pride of having been a part of VJ Floorball.

..nil sine labore xD
